One Down, Fifty to Go!
We're back on the road after a lovely stop with the Cope family. As of this moment, we are pressing farther west on 70 than J&Z have ever gone!
In case you're wondering, it's really freaking hard to shut down your whole mojo for two months - hence yesterday's departure promptly at the crack of two. Yesterday's destination was Urbana, OH - the ancestral homeland of Leslie's proud lineage. Or at least the place where his parents currently own a condo. We got in late after an uneventful journey, unless you consider eating extra-salty pretzels to be an "event." We logged some quality time with mom and dad before collapsing into bed, exhausted from the exertions of our trip preparations.
This morning, however, was jam-packed with fun, starting with Jack grilling us steaks in his pajamas. That boy sure loves him some meat! And there is no better time than 8am to fire up the grill. If only we had some beer.
A bit later we got a visit from Leslie's youngest sister Becca, who brought along our ridiculously adorable nephew, Holden.
After some quality time sitting around staring at him as though he was TV, as people are weirdly wont to with babies, we passed him around for a bit.
Then I subjected everyone to the tyranny of the selfie stick for a bit. This allowed me to make some headway on my magnum opus, a photographic exploration of irritated loved ones looking in different directions.
After that, it was back to baby passing. Not to throw down, but I'm totally Holden's favorite. BOOM!
Now we're back on the road heading for Chicago - home of Leslie's sister Lisa Cope and her husband, the inimitable Don Lee.
