That Toddling Town

Another day of smooth sailing on the road, with the exception of a few moments of profound freakout at the hands of an Indiana wind farm.  Seriously, what kind of post-apolalyptiic shit is this?  Clearly these inscrutable monoliths were erected by The Empire as instruments of our oppression.  There is no other explanation.

Fortunately, we escaped the spinning arms of doom and arrived safely in Chicago, where we were treated to a hero's welcome from Lisa and Don.  Beers were promptly provided, and naturally it wasn't long before a banjo jam broke out.  Or it it more properly termed a hootenanny?

The Wii was played.  Tacos were eaten.  A fire was lit.  Marshmallow shooters were deployed.  And the hootenanny raged on into the night.

Today we spent the morning provisioning for the trip.  Hundreds of dollars later, we made our way down to the Chicago lakefront to enjoy the remains of a ridiculously gorgeous day.

We walked over to Navy Pier, and found ourselves unable to resist the siren call of the ferris wheel.

And the climbing wall.

And the big swings.

And the fountain.

Zoe and I rocked some outfits I made.  Not to brag, but we looked freaking awesome.  Okay fine - bragging!

Now we're back at Chateau Lisa & Don, sipping wine to steady our nerves for the big day - RV pickup is tomorrow, people.  And thus begins our life on the road.
