Breaker 1-9, Breaker 1-9, this is the Iron Donkey

Today was all about 12 hours on the road, but it's amazing how quickly the pain of a full day's drive was erased by skirt steak tacos with grilled cabbage slaw.

Also margaritas (regrettably not pictured because we were too busy slurping them down), poolside beers, and our first proper campsite evening, complete with a hot Texas breeze and banjo tunes, but no campfire because one spark could take out this entire barely inhabitable state!

Our day on the road brought all the weird one would expect from our great nation.  Today's highlights included:

  • A billboard that read, "Space:  The Final Frontier," and then provided a phone number.  Presumably to...Space?

  • A fudge factory with gun rentals and a shooting range

  • A truck stop that sold bacon-flavored cotton candy (yes we bought it - don't judge)

  • Venturing inside an Oklahoma Wal-Mart (seriously, quit judging!)

  • Making friends with a three-legged dog

  • Did I mention margaritas?

And now...BEDTIME!
