Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch...
Today was a big day for J&Z - their first boba fide American roadside attraction, and their first immersion in participatory public art. Both in one convenient stop! Well, two stops if you count the Home Depot trip for spray paint.
As you may have guessed, we spent the morning at Amarillo's famous Cadillac Ranch, where ten vintage caddies have stood nose-down in the dirt since 1974. They began their lives as an installation by the San Francisco based Art Farm, but they have since been (legally) coated with four decades' worth of spray paint, contributed by thousands of road pilgrims.
J&Z were filled with glee just to have the opportunity to spray paint around, so you can imaging my surprise when they actually got it together to collaborate on a graffiti homage to the Iron Donkey. You can watch an ultra brief documentary about it here.
